Temilade Openiyi, better known as her stage name Tems, is a British-Nigerian singer-songwriter and record producer. Tems was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and she moved to the United Kingdom when she was still a baby. She then spent time living in Ilupeju, Lekki and Ajah. While in school, Tems learned to play the piano and would practice singing while her brother played the guitar. Tems later recorded her debut single, “Mr Rebel,” which she composed herself. The following year, Tems released two more singles, “Looku Looku” and “Try Me.” She has also gone on to release her debut EP, “For Broken Ears,” which features the single “Damages.” Tems has previously been nominated for three Headies awards in Best Vocal Performance, Best Alternative Song and Next Rated. Currently, Tems has over 532,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
