AKMU is a k pop duo consisting of South Korean siblings Lee Su-hyun and Lee Chan-hyuk. The two of them, who debuted their first album “Play” back in 2014, are known for their folk pop and soul twist on the genre. “Play” hit number 1 on the Korean charts and number 2 in the U.S. Their two follow ups, “Winter” and “Sailing” in 2017 and 2019 respectively, received a ton of praise and did well on the charts. AKMU has sold well over 23 million songs in South Korea alone and they’ve taken home 20 wins out of 82 nominations, including three Gaon Chart Music Awards, three Golden Disc Awards, among quite a few others. The tƒwo of them spent a lot of time in Mongolia where they were home-schooled. Eventually, they made their way back to South Korea and started a band called Akdong Musician.
