JiSoo was born Kim Ji-soo in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea where she was not only involved in music (attending the School of Performing Arts Seoul), but participated in physical extracurricular activities like basketball and Taekwondo. JiSoo’s goal was originally to become a writer and a painter, but her artistic pursuits took her in a different direction. After joining drama club, she got more and more comfortable with performing. Eventually, she moved on to actually start auditioning and got a pretty good taste of the entertainment industry. In 2011, she became a trainee with YG Entertainment and eventually worked her way up to joining Rosé, Jennie, and Lisa in the k pop sensation Blackpink. From here, her career took off and it eventually afforded her the opportunity to take her acting pursuits to the next level. With Blackpink, she wrote the song “Lovesick Girls” of their debut “The Album” and it became the lead single. In 2021, JiSoo landed the lead role in Snowdrop, playing the role of Eun Young-ro. That same year, she won Weibo Starlight Awards’ Starlight Hall of Fame and was longlisted for The Fact Music Awards’ Fan N Star Choice Individual.
