Artwork (Arthur Smith) is a veteran DJ and electronic music producer. He’s been around for quite some time, playing sets in London and collaborating with various electronic musicians. Arthur got his start when he was just 12-years-old, listening to Andy Kershaw on Radio 1. That’s where he first heard a song from America, a genre they called “house” music. He immediately hit record and was completely taken away by the sound. The obsession never wavered and when he was 17, his mom used to drive him around looking for a rave for her song to attend. For more than two decades, he’s been buying records and freestyling on the dancefloor. You may also know him under the name of Grain, with which he recorded various techno tracks with the Brighton based label Fat Cat Records. He lived above a record shop that was selling a lot of garage records, something he decided to try out to some success. Back then, he wasn’t using a computer: it was essentially a drum machine. Now you can find him playing four hour sets in the U.S. and the U.K..
