Nicholas James Murphy, also known as Chet Faker, is a singer-songwriter from Australia. In 2012, he dropped his debut EP “Thinking in Textures” and subsequently signed to Downtown Records in the states. That same year he won Breakthrough Artist of the Year, while “Thinking in Textures” won the Best Independent Single/EP award at the Australian Independent Records Awards. It also later won Best Independent Release at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards for 2012. Chet Faker is well known for his cover of Blackstreet's "No Diggity", which appeared in a 2013 Super Bowl ad for Beck's Sapphire. In the spring of 2014, Chet Faker releases his debut studio album “Built on Glass”. The album received very positive reviews and even debuted at the number 1 spot on the Australian ARIA Charts. Three of the songs were included into the top 10 of Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2014. The song "Talk Is Cheap" was number 1. Nicholas also released music under his real name, starting in 2016. He released the albums “Run Fast Sleep Naked” and “Music for Silence” under his real name. But Chet Faker came back with the 2021 album “Hotel Surrender”. He also released music under the name Nick Murphy and The Program, with the album “Take in The Roses”..
