DAISY is a Los Angeles-based band comprised of Daisy Hamel-Buffa, Alex Kasvikis, Maxx Morando, Matt Fildey, and Ben Roswell Salk. What makes DAISY stand out among the rest (something people tend to praise them for) is their very original sound. They are described as being RnB punk and “loud jazz.” The lead singer doesn’t have as easy of a time defining what their sound really is, but she might just reference very genre if you ask her. Together, this group of friends has been churning out music since 2014. DAISY released their very first album “Smoke About It” just two years later. The record featured the single “Day Off” which had a beat created by Matt Martians from The Internet alongside Daisy (the singer) herself. She wrote the song about a massive crush she had on a boy she met at a Trader Joe’s just down the street from where she lived. DAISY’S first EP is made up of four songs they all recorded in just one single take. Two of the songs -- “Way Cool Baby Love” and “Overtime” – have a very drastic time change that is abrupt, catchy, and may or may not be intentional. The band members describe it as “pulling the rug out from the listener.”.
