Daddy Issues formed back in winter of 2014 after singer Jenna Moynihan saw the words "Daddy Issues" spray-painted on the wall of a venue they were playing at and for a moment thought it could be an all-girl punk band. At the very least, it would make for a great band name, so she adopted then name, recruiting Emily Maxwell on drums and Jenna Mitchell on bass. They met at Belmont University together. Daddy Issues released their first single "Pizza Girl" in 2014. Then they released the song "Ugly When I Cry" and it subsequently went viral on Soundcloud with almost 300,000 plays. Daddy Issues performed at South by Southwest in 2015 which was their biggest performance as a band to date. Soon, they began recording their EP “Drop Out”. Two years later they dropped the EP “In Your Head”. In 2015 they released their first studio album “Can We Still Hang” and two years later, “Deep Dream”. They later premiered the single "Unicorns & Rainbows," which was "a track about rejecting potential boyfriends and how girls are not actually made of sugar, spice, and everything nice."
