There’s no band out there like DITZ, a punk band that’s very rough around the edges but manages to offer up quite a bit of complex post-hardcore elements with a touch of experimental. They’ve been compared to bands such as Sonic Youth, Black Flag or Flipper, but there’s definitely a lot more to it, as they incorporate some electronic sounds into their mix. They’re garage, post-punk, noise, and thrash with heavy bass riffs and crunchy guitar screeches. However, lead singer Cal is largely influenced by pop and electronic music, citing Charli XCX and SoFar Sounds. While the band has a sound that any metalhead, punk rocker, and gym-buff would love to work out to, the five members are quite notably the antithesis of that – being some of the nicest, polite, and eccentric men you’ll meet in the noise punk scene. However, they recognize that their sound provides an outlet for people to let out their frustrations and feel a little angry. It’s cathartic.
