Liam McLean is a British DJ and record producer who goes by the stage name Joker. He creates music in various genres like dubstep and grime. Joker is credited for creating the subgenre known as "purple sound". In 2009, he was given the distinction of the “king of bass music,” according to XLR8R magazine. In September 2009, one issue of The Wire magazine featured Joker as an artist to watch. He has contributed to London-based record company Hyperdub on two separate releases. Joker is in charge of the label Kapsize Recordings. Joker’s full-length debut album “The Vision” came out in October of 2011 under the banner of the independent label 4AD. His sophomore album, “The Mainframe” came out in the winter of 2015, this time through his own Kapsize label.
