Katatonia is a death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden who first formed back in 1991 when Jonas Renkse and Andrew Nyström first met up and started jamming out. The band has since gone through several different lineups, but currently the band consists of: Jonas Renkse, Anders Nyström, Niklas Sandin, Daniel Moilanen, and Roger Öjersson. Previous members include: Guillaume Le Huche, Fredrik Norrman, Mikael Oretoft, Mattias Norrman, Per Eriksson, Daniel Liljekvist, and Mikael Åkerfeldt. Katatonia released their first album “Dance of December Souls” in 1993 and three years later, they released “Brave Murder Day”. They went on to release nine more albums up until 2020, six of which charted across the world. Their 2016 album “The Fall of Hearts”, in particular” peaked at the number 6 spot on the Official Finnish Chart, number 11 on the German GK Entertainment Chart, as well as charting in many other countries around the world. “Dead End Kings” charted at number 4 on the Official Finnish chart and “City Burials” hit number 5 on that same chart.
