They hail from Saint Petersburg and the band consists of a whopping 14 different members: Sergei "Shnur" Shnurov, Aleksandr "Puzo" Popov , Andrey "Antonych" Antonenko , Grigoriy "Zontik" Zontov , Roman "Shukher" Parygin , Andrey "Ded" Kurayev , Ilya "Pianist" Rogachevskiy, Konstantin "Limon" Limonov, Vladislav "Valdik" Aleksandrov, Aleksey Kanev "Lekha", Denis Mozhin, Aleksey "Micksher" Kalinin, Dmitry Guguchkin, Florida Chanturia, and Viktor Rapotihin. They all got together in 1997 to write lyrics that were in celebration of Vodka and girls. Their lyrics are considered vulgar and boundary-pushing, which means that radio stations have traditionally avoided playing their music, but that never stopped Leningrad from doing their thing. After a hiatus in 2008, they got back together in 2010 and began releasing music yet again. The band has won several awards, like the Berlin Music Video Awards in 2017, winning in the Best Concept Category. They won that same award yet again the very next year.
