Sisters Grace, Sophia, and Hulda Quebe make up the band. They all play the fiddle and sing, and additional musicians play the upright bass, guitar, and other instruments. North Texas was the home of Grace Quebe, Sophia Quebe, and Hulda Quebe (pronounced kway-bee). The sisters briefly studied classical violin before making the move to fiddle in 1998 while they were in Denton, Texas, for the North Texas State Fair. There they encountered Joey and Sherry McKenzie, national champion fiddlers and the creators of the Bob Wills Fiddle Festival & Contest in Greenville, Texas, and heard Texas-style fiddling for the first time. Soon after, the girls started attending the McKenzies' school, and the Quebe family relocated to Tarrant County's Burleson, Texas. For several years, the sisters studied with the McKenzies, and Joey McKenzie joined their band and served as their arranger.
