In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, and Power Rangers Zeo, he is best known for playing Billy Cranston. In Council Bluffs, Iowa, Yost was born. The state titles in Iowa and Montana were among the numerous national gymnastics tournaments he won while traveling the country. He graduated from Pleasanton, California's Amador Valley High School in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication and dramatic arts from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, in 1991. Yost relocated to California in the intention of pursuing a career in acting, and three months after arriving he was cast as Billy Cranston (Blue Power Ranger) in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series. In the first four seasons of the program, he appeared in about 200 episodes. He was the only cast member to appear in every episode of the original series; unlike the other original cast members, his character never changed colors or passed on his power coins to replacements.
