Alina Bzhezhinska has collaborated with UK jazz phenom Kamaal Williams on his second studio album, Wu Hen. She has also performed at Balmoral Castle for HM the Queen's 80th birthday, been hired by Thai monarchy to arrange music composed by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
After completing a Masters in Arts at the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and studying classical harp there, the student was accepted to the University of Arizona to study jazz. Bzhezhinska moved to the UK in 2002, where she later spent seven years teaching harp at the esteemed Royal Conservatory of Scotland.
She made the decision to go to London after deciding to start her own jazz career. Bzhezhinska made a big impression when her quartet performed at the Barbican as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival in November 2017. They were then nominated for Best Live Experience of the Year at the 2018 Jazz FM Awards.
Inspiration, her critically acclaimed debut album that was published through Ubuntu Music in 2018 and included Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Tony Kofi, was produced by Bzhezhinska. The PRS Women Make Music Award helped to fund this production. She went on to perform live appearances for BBC Radio 3 and Worldwide FM, as well as appearances at the Edinburgh International Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Royal Albert Hall, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club. She later represented the UK with her quartet at the WOMADelaide Festival in Australia.
