Andy Hillstrand assumes leadership for the opilio season. He oversees daily operations and, when not at sea, is a devoted father and horse whisperer. Born and raised in Alaska, Andy is a third-generation fisherman. For many years, Andy possessed a captain's license; during the opilio crab season, you could locate Captain Andy at the helm. Andy is a true professional angler who takes crew and boat safety extremely seriously. Since he was a young adult, Andy has engaged in commercial fishing. He parted ways with Deadliest Catch due to creative differences and now owns a 17-acre horse ranch in Indiana where he gives lessons and runs Hillstrand Fireworks as well.
Johnathan Hillstrand was also born and raised in Alaska. He maintains order as Time Bandit's captain during the king crab season. The safety of his team is his first priority due to the risks associated with fishing in the Bering Sea. When John is at the helm, there is no space for error. John is renowned as the practical joker on board Time Bandit while being a serious fisherman. His favorite practical jokes include flour bombs, water buckets on tiptoe and the surprise explosion of a seal bomb or two.
John doesn't have much time for leisure activities between fishing and traveling.  But when his schedule allows, John divides his time between Homer, Alaska and Seattle, Washington, where he spends time with his loved ones.   John's second interest is his 2000 Harley Davidson Fatboy, which he customized with a nitrous tank to provide 300 horsepower of acceleration to the ride. He likes his leisure to be equally as risky as his career..
