Assistant Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University's School of Medicine is Dr. Keerthi Gogineni. Before relocating to the Glenn Family Breast Center at Winship, she spent four years as a breast medical oncologist at the University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center. Dr. Gogineni oversees the clinical trial program in pursuit of novel approaches to treating breast cancer while providing care for both men and women who have the disease. She has written in the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and JAMA Oncology. She also undertakes health policy research on problems relating to access and affordability of oncology care. The American Society of Clinical Oncology's Young Investigator Award and a Pfizer Research Fellowship in Bioethics have both been given to Dr. Gogineni. She earned a degree in human biology with distinction from Brown University, where she was also awarded the George W. Hagy Prize for Distinction. She worked as a public policy fellow at AIDS Action, a group that represents AIDS service providers on Capitol Hill, after receiving her degree. She received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, finished her internal medicine residency and hematology-oncology fellowship training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a master's degree in health policy research at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. She was given the Jane Alavi Award for Clinical Excellence by the Department of Medicine while she was a fellow at the University of Pennsylvania..
