Cassandra Jenkins is a musician, singer, and songwriter from the United States who currently resides in the borough of Brooklyn in the state of New York. Cassandra Jenkins was born in New York City to a family with a musical background. In the 1980s, her parents were musicians who performed on cruise ships. She began her musical training at a young age, studying both the guitar and singing. She performed traditional folk music with her family band at a variety of festivals before the age of twelve. Jenkins received her degree in visual arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2006, where she was a graduate student. She held the position of editorial assistant at The New Yorker for a total of two years. Jenkins debuted her debut extended play, which was simply titled "Jennifer," in April of 2013. She then followed it up with an album titled "Play Till You Win," which was released in 2017 and received great reviews. Her second studio album, titled "An Overview on Phenomenal Nature," was released in February 2021 to widespread critical praise. Multi-instrumentalist Josh Kaufman was responsible for the record's production.
