British alternative rock musician, producer, and lyricist David John Haskins, better known by his stage name David J, plays bass for Love and Rockets as well as the Gothic rock band Bauhaus. In addition to writing and directing his own plays, Silver for Gold (The Odyssey of Edie Sedgwick) in 2008, The Chanteuse and The Devil's Muse in 2011, and many more plays and movies, he has also composed the music for them. His works have been displayed in galleries across the globe, and he has performed as a resident DJ at places like the Knitting Factory. David J has released a number of singles and solo albums. In 1990, with "I'll Be Your Chauffeur," he had one of the first number-one successes on the still-emerging Modern Rock Tracks charts. In 2016, his most recent single, "The Day That David Bowie Died," debuted at number four on the UK vinyl singles chart. His double CD, "Vagabond Songs," contains the song. For the compilation titled "We are not safe yet" from the Mexican-American label No Devotion Records, J released the song "(I walk away) from the girl in yellow" in 2020. David J additionally contributed to the song "Death Sky," which featured Chris Connelly (Ministry) on vocals, in the label's Mario Alberto Cabada (Bolaspace) own band, NUKES. David released What The Patrons Heard, his most recent album, on February 25, 2022, through the Mexicali-based label No Devotion Records and the Los Angeles/Minneapolis-based label Give/Take.
