Daryl Davis is dedicated to assisting others in sparking constructive change by using dialogue to establish connections.  He has spoken with KKK and White supremacist leaders in person for almost 40 years in an effort to learn how they can hate someone they don't even know. His first contact with racism occurred when he was ten years old and participating in a parade. A few White onlookers threw soda cans, bottles and rocks at him. Daryl responded to their anger with decency, patience and listening, seeking to understand rather than to influence their opinions. Many people who changed their own thoughts and abandoned nasty attitudes became true and long-lasting friends as a result of such interactions.
Daryl is a gifted storyteller who inspires and equips audiences with the skills they need to improve relationships in their families, communities and places of employment. Both the video Accidental Courtesy and Daryl's book Klan-Destine Relationships provide accounts of his efforts. Over 12M people have seen Daryl's TEDx Talk.
Daryl received his Bachelor of Music degree from Howard University. He has shared the stage with several artists, including Chuck Berry and The Legendary Blues Band. Although a musician by trade, his obsession is fostering better racial relations. He has also been called "The Rock'n'Roll Race Reconciliator".
