Nicklas Bergman has more than 25 years of experience as a serial entrepreneur, technology investor and futurist. He currently manages about 15 direct and indirect investments and focuses primarily on investments and business development in emerging markets, web services, nanotechnology, computing, new materials and new media art.
He delivers lectures on how to survive and navigate the techstorm as well as how people and businesses can get a competitive edge by keeping up with new developments in technology and humanity's continuing transformation.
On matters pertaining to research, innovation and the commercialization of technology, he serves as the strategic advisor to the European Commissioner as well as the European Institute of Technology. He is also a member of the World Future Society and the Long Now Foundation and he represents Scandinavia at the TechCast Technology Think Tank in Washington, DC.
He is highly interested in the fusion of technology, society and business as a writer. He wrote a book titled Surviving the Tech Storm - Strategy in Times of Technological Uncertainty about how to approach emerging technology from a business standpoint.
The book argues that technology is currently the most powerful force for change and that everybody in a managerial position, or who aspires to one day hold that position, needs to grasp how technology is fundamentally altering business.
Additionally, he is involved in "Nordic Ways," the main initiative at the Johns Hopkins University SAIS Center for Transatlantic Relations in Washington, D.C. The project's end product was a collection of articles on the "Nordic Model," which has been used to address economic and social difficulties in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
