Margaux Sauvé was raised in a musical family and began playing the violin at the young age of five. She was born in Quebec. She continued on to the Quebec Conservatoire but left because she was "losing the fun part of it." She still liked music, so she started playing violin in neighborhood bands. Because she believed that "to be a singer you had to have a big voice and be loud," which doesn't come easily to her as a quiet, thinking person, singing came a little later. Additionally, while she was growing up in Quebec, the mainstream music on the radio wasn't connecting with her, so it wasn't until she began to make songs while studying psychology at the university that the creativity and inspiration arrived.
Her mesmerizing debut album, "Heaven, Wait," was released and her songwriting has improved to the point that this is the first time she has felt like she is contributing to the conversation while creating. The album, which represents changes and rebirth, shows the artist's capacity to see herself from the outside. While still discussing trying circumstances, she is able to put someone else in the starring part, giving the music a profoundly personal yet strikingly global allure.
The majority of "Heaven, Wait" was recorded at home with Louis-Étienne Santais, her co-writer and life partner. They worked independently in the same home and passed ideas back and forth before coming together to rehearse the songs after they had taken on a solid enough form. Once they were satisfied with the tunes, they worked on the files in real time with producer Tim Bran, even though he was in the UK on the other side of the Atlantic.
