Nija Charles is a singer/songwriter and producer currently residing in Los Angeles, California.
While growing up and witnessing her uncle and aunt experiment with the music-production program Fruity Loops, Nija first became interested in music. This irrational interest gradually turned into a daily passion. Nija pursued her goal and was admitted to NYU's notorious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Here, she developed her enthusiasm by penning the melody and lyrics for her own creation. Although this was initially merely a plan to help her production gain more attention, her tracks were well welcomed and swiftly picked up by a few well-known music producers and A&Rs.
After the end of her first semester of her sophomore year, Nija met her future manager, who also served as J. Grand's mentor and senior A&R for RCA Records. She was transported to Los Angeles two weeks later to work with some of the most well-known producers and musicians in the music business.
Almost immediately, this trip became into a biweekly one where she would spend the weekends in Los Angeles writing songs before returning to New York to attend her morning classes throughout the week. Nija submitted a notice of leave from school and signed with Universal Music Publishing Group after roughly eight months of living between the two coasts and demonstrating unmatched songwriter promise. Nija is a multi-platinum selling, Billboard Award-winning composer and producer who has written songs for musicians like Chris Brown, Flo Rida and Jason Derulo. .
