Since you last saw the Mercury-nominated alt-pop quartet The Big Moon, a few things have changed. Most significantly, they have added one new, extremely tiny member. Their upcoming third album, "Here Is Everything," which was started during lockdown and largely recorded while frontwoman Jules Jackson was six months pregnant, has traveled with The Big Moon. The album, which was completed when the infant Moon reached the age of nine months, captures a significant period of change for the band: a time of ambiguity, of global unrest, of pregnancy and of new motherhood — but all bound together by the unbreakable ties between Jules, bassist Celia Archer, drummer Fern Ford and guitarist Soph Nathan.
The band discovered there was a gap when they first got together to record the album in Suffolk for a few weeks in the middle of last year. Despite Jules' heart-on-sleeves lyrics and their extended time apart, something in the room didn't seem to be clicking. Fortunately, Fern had upgraded her skills, created a home studio and taught herself Pro Tools and production methods, so she didn't spend her lockdown making bread and binge-watching like most of the country. In order to complete the record at Fern's house while enjoying cups of tea and cuddles with Jules' baby between songs, the band decided to put aside the pressure of having reserved studio time and take the core of what they had worked on. The Big Moon's most creative and exhilarating record to date was unquestionably produced thanks to the luxury of time and their ability to reestablish their bond as a quartet..
