Tom and Ed Russell, brothers who were raised in Wales, each had successful careers in electronic music before they started working together as Overmono. Tom was known for his hard-edged techno under the name Truss and Ed was known for his rave-instilled bass work under the name Tessela. For a brief period, the brothers also performed as the hardware-based techno duo TR/ER. The couple scheduled five days at an isolated cottage studio in Devon to flesh out their ideas in order to lessen the effect of their individual work from the mix.
