Frances Lion has a knack for language, a perspective on persuasion and a tendency for blag. Her own Beatles-in-Hamburg moment (with more Jägermeister and less speed pills) is how the singer-songwriter landed a job working behind a bar and performing as much as they would let her in a French ski resort.
The young woman from a small village in Hampshire used her knack for gab to start her own open-mic night on Australia's Gold Coast, continuing her musical training and traveling the world.
Fortunately, Frances Lion is also a talented musician. And with a throaty, neck-tickling voice that can soar to both soulful and bluesy heights. Second Hand, her sampler song from the previous year, has it as a powerful, almost scary blast of self-laceration. She returned home after four years of traveling and she quickly left again after that. Demos she had written, some with her brother, found their way to management, publishing and finally Linda Perry by word-of-mouth and by ear.
She went on her first tour as Frances Lion last year, opening for Isaac Gracie, The Vaccines, Albert Hammond Jr. and Girli. She has performed at The Great Escape and other venues in London and she has plenty of festival performances scheduled.
