Waajeed Booking Agency Profile
Asseem Waajeed (Robert O' Bryant IV), a native of Detroit, is a musician and an educator. B orn to Robert O'Bryant III and Frances Alberta Davis on the Eastside of Detroit, Waajeed was raised in a work-oriented environment thanks to his father's family-owned trucking company and his mother imprinted him musically as a young boy. She frequently played Southern blues while they traveled across the city's major thoroughfares together.
Waajeed was reared in Conant Gardens on Detroit's east side, which served as an incubator for a burgeoning music culture that ranged from techno, funk and underground hip hop.
He coordinated the Platinum Pied Pipers alongside Saadiq (Darnell Bolden). The two first connected through the Slum Village rapper Baatin and they then started working together on three albums in a row. The pair made compilation albums with Georgia Anne Muldrow, Tiombe Lockhart and Dwele over their numerous years of activity. Waajeed established the label Bling47, signaling the artist's transition into a more independent line of work. Bling47 developed into the ideal platform to highlight musical legends in his neighborhood as a result of his desire to honor his hometown of Detroit. Waajeed was the first to sign the legendary producer J Dilla and the Bling 47 label served as the outlet for the publication of Dilla's instrumental albums, Vol. 1: Unreleased and Vol. 2: Vintage.
The Underground Music Academy was founded by Waajeed. UMA is an institution of higher learning for music that builds on the history of the Underground Resistance and the headquarters of the Techno Museum, Submerge. It promotes individual and group artistic expression as well as autonomy for artists. Waajeed's work with UMA, which combines his desire to take care of the collective with his commitment to aesthetic accuracy, is the culmination of his work as a musician and neighborhood organizer..

CTI can give you the accurate Waajeed booking price once we submit your event details to their camp. "How much does it cost to book Waajeed for an event?" is a frequent question we get. The final Waajeed booking price is contingent on many variables and the booking fee we may show is based on a range derived from our past experience with what will Waajeed charge for an event. An example fee to book Waajeed is in the starting range of $25,000-$39,999. However, any recent popularity change would cause a price fluctuation well beyond this example. Also, their speaking fee might be different than the fee shown for the cost to perform or to just appear. Popularity, career stage, along with current demand will cause fluctuations in their speaking price as well. The final booking price may be more than what is shown, but you should at least have a budget within that range for them to consider an appearance, performance or speaking engagement.
CTI negotiates on behalf of professional event planners and talent buyers for paid appearances! We cannot give out direct contact information of the Waajeed agent or help distribute fan mail, personal messages, gifts, requests for free appearances, or donations of time. The Waajeed manager and agent will only work with us if we present them with funded offers for their client to work your event.
There is low probability to book Waajeed for a party with anything substantially less than the published booking cost price range. We will negotiate with the Waajeed agent on your behalf if your funding is in place. By not having funding ready then it will more difficult to book Waajeed, because they get many offers to work events that are at or above asking price. It is also important to consider the travel costs when researching the Waajeed booking fee, as additional expenses like this, as well as an entourage of staff and equipment, are not necessarily built-in to the booking fee range shown. If your budget does not factor that in, then there is no benefit for them to want to be hired. We do not personally speak for Waajeed, but in our experience in booking talent for over 25 years, this is generally the outcome of inadequate funding.
