Chandra and Leigh Watson, who were raised as identical twins in Louisville, Kentucky, have always mixed musical styles to portray their tale. The twins relocated to Silver Lake, Los Angeles, where the vibrant music scene allowed them to "create a style of lovely, soulful indie-folk that does more than allude to inspirations from alt-country" (NPR). They were introduced to an exciting music environment during their time in LA and through friends, they started performing with Jenny Lewis, a local neighborhood vocalist. The three of them hit it off right away and their combined vocals produced a tone that critics praised. The trio transitioned from a local scene to an international touring group with the publication of Rabbit Fur Coat.
With the help of a contract they acquired with Vanguard Records, The Watson Twins put out Fire Songs and Talking to You, Talking to Me. The sisters widely toured both albums, appearing on late-night television, nationally syndicated on-air radio shows and prestigious festivals while also establishing themselves as noteworthy backup vocalists. The twin sisters have an unequaled sense of harmony and are becoming known as the musicians to contact when you need flawless voices backing you, according to Paste Magazine.
The two were motivated to create Night Covers, an EP of covers spanning genres and musical influences from Bill Withers to the Black Keys, while on tour and performing their fan favorite cover of "Just Like Heaven" (Fire Songs).
The Watson Twins have been touring in support of their own albums as well as continuing to sing backup for some of the biggest names in music in recent years.
