In 2012, Mala released his debut solo album, "Mala in Cuba," which blended his dubstep sound with Cuban rhythms and instrumentation. The album featured the tracks "Cuba Electronic" and "Changuito."
Mala has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Joe Ariwa and Gilles Peterson. In 2016, he released the single "Kotos," which featured the Japanese musician Asociación Juvenil Puno. He has also remixed tracks by artists such as The Bug, Skream, and Emika.
