El-P, also known as El Producto, is one of hip-most hop's stubborn and daring innovators, fusing a lo-fi, vintage aesthetic with a progressive rock musician's propensity to push limits. He has never given in to the pressures of corporate rap, instead deciding to go in a direction that is obviously not for profit. He established a solid reputation with the innovative group Company Flow, whose accomplishments include the El-P-produced album Funcrusher Plus on Rawkus Records, a company widely regarded as one of the greatest for intelligent hip-hop. He demonstrated during the group's fruitful time together that he was capable of both strong lyrical and musical output that was so potent it could stand alone. El-P also worked with Blackalicious, Mos Def and Dilated Peoples.
