Jeffrey Martin used to seek out isolation whenever he could as a child. While he is a really happy person, he has always behaved in this way and has never understood the whole concept of smiling in images. He eventually made it to a teaching degree after first obtaining a writing degree. He wrote almost every day, not just songs but other things as well, as if his life relied on it. He fell in love with teaching English to high school students, which was wonderful since he never imagined he would. His pupils were irrepressible forces of noise and inquiry who gave him 100 times more than they took from him in terms of sleep and intelligence.
He was also playing tons of music throughout. However, music and the tour lifestyle were like a persistent raccoon at the rear door. The question of whether Jeffrey could endure to quit teaching and go on tour full-time kept him awake for hours at a time in bed and on the front porch. He told his students, with tears in his eyes, that he wouldn't be returning the next year because he didn't feel good telling them to follow their goals no matter what if he wasn't going to do it himself.
Since then, Jeffrey has released a ton of music, but he is most proud of the most recent work. He is privileged to be a member of the wonderful and caring Fluff and Gravy Records family in Portland. His third full-length album is titled "One Go Around." Sean Hayes, Gregory Alan Isakov, Courtney Marie Andrews, Jeffrey Foucault, Joe Pug, Peter Mulvey, Amanda Shires, Sean Rowe, Tracy Grammer, David Wilcox and others have all performed on stage with him when he's been lucky..
