The deceptively straightforward but profoundly moving first single from Jansen's upcoming debut album, Bells, out on Universal's Decca Records, "Single Girls," chronicles the little things, like cutting her hair, buying pink floral sheets and going out for a drink with the guy down the hall. Jansen is a Dutch singer, songwriter and musician living in Los Angeles. Bells is a beautiful album of piano-driven alt-pop songs that has already achieved platinum status in Jansen's home country of Holland thanks to the hits "Single Girls" and a breathtaking cover of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody," which spent more than a year in the Top 10 of the Dutch singles list.
With Sara Bareilles, Priscilla Ahn and Joshua Radin, three confessional-minded musicians with whom Jansen has toured and will continue to do so, The Hotel Café in Los Angeles has served as a musical haven, a creative incubator and ultimately a national launching pad for them.
