L.E.J. is a tale about friendship in addition to being a story about music. In Saint-Denis, Lucie, Elisa and Juliette all grew up together. At the Conservatory, they both studied music at the same time.
Elisa and Lucie were Maîtrise de Radio France students and Juliette continued her studies at the Saint Denis Conservatoire before training L.E.J for a cover contest associated with the band Tryo and the Nuits de Champagne festival.
They triumph, give a live performance and realize they are stage stars. They perform in festivals that draw huge crowds as well as the most famous venues in the city, like the Olympia and La Cigale.
Lucie sings and plays sax. Elisa is a vocalist and drummer. Juliette plays the cello, guitar, bass and vocals. These multi-instrumentalists have six hands on the composition. The result of nine years in the industry, twenty years of music-making and more than 25 years of friendship.
The L.E.J.-formed trio went through the hellish rhythm of tours before more reflective periods allowed the three girls to settle down and record Volume II, a collection of French song covers.
They finally immortalized the songs their parents forced them to sing and listen to by creating brilliant arrangements that stayed true to their style while maintaining the foundation of classical voices and angelic harmonies, an ever-present cello and occasionally even some surprises in contemporary sounds that nod to their constant influences: afrobeat, bossa nova, reggaeton, electronica, etc..
