Danny Lopez and Rylan Whalen, the two founding members of the rock and roll group Harm & Ease, first met while they were in their freshman year of high school in Burlington, Ontario. They quickly started a musical connection in the expected suburbs. As an acoustic project, Harm & Ease was formally established, allowing the band to experiment with a more melodic mood absent from the metal scene. In the end, fate would see Lopez and his family abruptly uprooted from their homes and land in Buenos Aires. This, however, was insufficient to set the songwriting partnership apart. The artistic duo was kept together by commitment, sacrifice and a ton of airline journeys, which helped them advance to the next phase of their careers.
As they dominated the South American rock scene, they discovered that they had a growing worldwide fan base.
The brothers took the risk of moving their base of operations to Toronto since they had roots and relatives in the north. With the help of connections made with well-known artists, such as Walk off the Earth, a multi-Platinum-selling and Juno Award-winning band, the recording of their first album to be released in Canada, "Midnight Crisis," could start right away.
