Gisela Fullà-Silvestre created the stage name NOIA to distinguish her well-known work as a composer and mix engineer for cinema and television from her experimental pop creations. The Barcelona-born artist moved to Brooklyn after receiving her degree from Berklee and began creating music that tapped into her early associations with sound, which she had developed osmotically as a kid in the activist household of her parents.
Her first EP, Habits, was soon after released. It was a rich, sultry affair highlighted by the tracks "Nostalgia Del Futuro" and "Itaca Tropical." NOIA performed at venues in both North America and Europe and became a pillar of the NYC arts scene. Her second EP, Crisalida, which is Catalan for "cocoon," was released, expanding on her global allusions to explore an increasingly avant-garde palette.
