She shown a love for activism at a young age by taking part in demonstrations for social justice. She enrolled in the environmental club at Minneapolis South High School, where she got involved in climate advocacy.
Hirsi co-founded the American branch of the international youth climate movement, the U.S. Youth Climate Strike, in January 2019.
