Nathan Gurley and Sean Rodman, members of the well-known electro-folk group Moontricks, are based in the unassuming Kootenay Mountains of Western Canada and are inspired by the constant cycles of the natural world. The band finds comfort and beauty in the union of seemingly unrelated components, which is both unstable and consistent—like nature's greatest gifts. Each piece is rooted in tradition and polished with a futuristic shine, fusing organic folk, roots rock and old-time blues with contemporary electronic production. It has a sort of technicolor campfire vibe. Gurley and Rodman met while attending a music festival in a small town in British Columbia. They later worked together to create a number of rhythmic, instrumental soundscapes that eventually became known as their electro-folk style.
