James Boyle, alias Breakage, has never been one to fit into a mold. Breakage has established himself as one of the most adaptable performers in either scene to date, gliding with ease between drum and bass and dubstep. He is really talented and has already had a lot of legendary recordings, but he keeps refining his sound. Breakage's music is understated yet devastatingly potent because it combines rich tones and a feeling of space. He entered the drum and bass industry with a boisterous remix of a hardcore classic, Nasty Habit's "Here Come the Drums" on Reinforced, proclaiming his entry.
James gained attention after signing with Shy FX's powerful Digital Soundboy brand thanks to the melancholy half-time rhythms of "Clarendon b/w Shroud." It was expected that he would cause a stir in the dubstep genre with his subsequent release, "Callahan b/w Untitled," given that he had previously remixed one of the scene's most well-known songs, Benga & Coki's "Night," with Shy FX under the name Digital Soundboy.
Breakage solidified his position as a major figure among the British dance music press and top tastemakers.
