Anthony Trucks entered the foster care system when he was three years old. Up to 50% of children who are placed in the system become homeless after becoming adults. In addition, former foster children make almost 75% of American jail populations. In other words, Anthony's chances were not good.
Anthony started to put in effort in between being placed in foster care and being adopted by a working-class, all-white family at the age of 14. Making the varsity football team in high school was the most difficult and ambitious objective he had ever set for himself. Despite having a challenging first couple of seasons, he persisted, worked hard and made the squad and got a full scholarship to the University of Oregon by his senior year.
He was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of joining the NFL after graduation. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler at the age of 25, married, and had a promising future.
However, Anthony's NFL aspirations were dashed by a freak shoulder injury. He transitioned from an NFL roster to a personal trainer at his neighborhood club in less than two months. Anthony knew he had to change and he knew he had to change it now.
Anthony chose to create his own gym after earning a degree in kinesiology. His time was completely consumed by the gym, which caused his marriage to break apart and his children to miss him. Eventually, the company collapsed, and he was on the verge of bankruptcy. Anthony took a lengthy trip with the intention of taking his own life. 
Thankfully, he didn't.
Anthony studied the methods of other peak performance instructors and adopted them. However, he persisted in his struggles and kept thinking, "Why not me"
