Michael Fox and Michelle Dockery connected over a common interest in just one evening. Encouraged by a friend, what began as a lighthearted jam session in between scenes soon evolved into something special.
Prior to it, Fox and Dockery had been distracted with different work-related diversions. Their mutual attraction came from the immensely renowned television series Downton Abbey, in which he played the footman Andrew Parker and she, Lady Mary Crawley. They were both searching for a fresh means of self-expression because they are naturally talented musicians. Fox had always played in bands as a child, honing his craft in a variety of genres from folktronica to indie while penning his own songs.
Growing up in a boisterous home, Dockery was exposed to the music of Joni Mitchell, Alison Krauss and the Indigo Girls. Prior to focusing on acting, she performed as a singer on several London stages.
Six years later, they are ready to release The Watching Silence, their debut EP with Decca. The EP consists of four original songs that were recorded at Crouch End's Church Studios last year and produced by Iain Grimble, who has worked with Bears Den, Daughter and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
The music that Fox and Dockery have created together is ageless and iconic; their impressionistic compositions are fresh and contemporary, devoid of pastiche and laced with their own London realism, even though their melody and structure are more Nashville Americana than UK folk..
