Halima, who was born and raised by her mother in Lagos and London, currently resides in Brooklyn, drawing from a tri-continental source. Being the only kid, she learned how to balance her time spent reflecting alone with her participation in group day camps and community theater and music programs. She recalls creating mechanisms for bringing musicians together continuously, starting in elementary school. Afropop, pop-punk, neo-soul, pop-punk, and electronic have all been influences on Halima's career as it has progressed from her early studies of folk and piano to her later studies of jazz and R&B. Her work now draws shamelessly from a wide range of musical genres, sonically acknowledging those formative moments while advancing toward a more in-depth examination of the self.

Halima is not only a creative but also a co-founder and involved member of a Brooklyn women's collective that meets once a week to celebrate chosen family, engage in community therapy, and discuss life in the music industry.
