Despite a number of obstacles, Kat completed her high school education and enrolled in San Diego City College to study electrical engineering. She transferred to UCLA after three years, where she earned her B.S. in electrical engineering. She was an intern at NASA JPL while I was at UCLA. Kat eventually made the switch to a full-time engineering job, contributing to five NASA missions, such as Europa Clipper and Perseverance. She is currently enrolled at Johns Hopkins University to pursue a master's degree in electrical engineering.
