Jackie Kallen, known as “The First Lady of Boxing,” is the most accomplished female in
the boxing industry. A former journalist, who has interviewed everyone from Elvis to Sinatra,
from the Beatles to Michael Jackson.
Making her mark in the late ‘70s as a sport writer focusing on boxing, Jackie eventually went
on to manage fighters and guided the careers of over a half dozen champions. She owned and operated the Galaxy Boxing Gym in Detroit and was the inspiration for the Meg Ryan film
“Against the Ropes.”
Jackie was a regular on the NBC show “The Contender” with Sylvester Stallone and
Sugar Ray Leonard; her most current project is in development, the reality show entitled
“The Making of a Champion.”
Winner of countless awards, Jackie is listed in the World Boxing Hall of Fame, the California Boxing Hall of Fame and has written two books, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “Between the Ropes.” She has been featured on “The View,” ”The Today Show,” “The Jon Stewart Show” and many other local talk shows around the country. Kallen has been written about in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The LA Times, Sports Illustrated and Good Housekeeping Magazine among others.
Author Peter Mann wrote a biography on her called “Against the Odds: The Jackie Kallen
Story”, she was recently one of the producers of a Hollywood film called “The Ballad of Jack and Diane” and had a featured role in the film “One’s Honesty.”
A successful motivational speaker, Kallen has crossed the country and Canada, giving her
inspirational and motivational presentation including her speech about believing in yourself, taking the path less traveled, being fearless and making the most out of every day. She also addresses the issues of health. She has four heart stents, glaucoma, sleep apnea, and is a melanoma survivor.
