As a lover of animals, Mackey became the first in grocery chains to set a standard for humane animal treatment. He went on to start the non-profit, Animal Compassion Foundation, which folded with Global Animal Partnership, which Mackey is on the Board of Directors for. He is also a board member of Farm Forward and for the Humane Society of the United States. Mackey has released two books, “Be the Solution” and “Conscious Capitalism”.
