Everything changed when Melody Gardot had a head injury in a cycling accident when she was 19 years old. She recovered much more quickly with the help of music. She started writing songs while she was in the hospital, which she later recorded for the 2005 album "Some Lessons: The Bedroom Sessions" and made available for download on iTunes. Employees of the Philadelphia radio station WXPN, which is run by the University of Pennsylvania, noticed her performing these songs at venues and helped Norah Jones launch her career. Her decision to send a demo tape to the radio station was welcomed, and the recording eventually ended up at the Universal Music Group. Her debut album, "Worrisome Heart," was published by Verve in 2006, followed by "My One and Only Thrill," which was also produced by Larry Klein.
