The founder of the band, Ben Schneider, originally started Lord Huron as a musical and visual solo project but evolved into a fully collaborating indie folk band. Ben matured as a musician and often returned to Lake Huron for inspiration, leading to the release of his first EP, Into the Sun. The EP grew in popularity online, causing Ben to recruit musicians to translate his recordings into a live performance.
