Duke Robillard is a very popular American blue musician who has recorded alongside artists, including Hal Singer, Joe Louis Walker, Jimmy Witherspoon, Todd Sharpville, and Bob Dylan. He is most known for playing guitar in the blues style of T-Bone Walker. Duke has been involved in many different bands in his music journey such as The Fabulous Thunderbirds and he also co-founded the band Roomful of Blues. In 1981, Duke formed the Duke Robillard Band, which soon evolved into the Duke Robillard & the Pleasure Kings. The band finally signed a record deal with Rounder Records after a few years of touring. While touring with the band, Duke would still release a jazz-oriented solo album. Duke Robillard has won various awards including, winning twice as Best Blues Guitarists at the Blues Music Awards (Formerly the W.C. Handy Award) in the years 2000 & 2001. In 2007, Duke also won a Rhode Island Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts. Duke Robillard has also produced Grammy nominated albums. In 2007, he was nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album for Guitar Groove-A-Rama and then nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album for Stomp! The Blues Tonight in 2010. .
